The auto shop out in Galesburg is an absolute mess, you have to call to make sure they're open, then when you go there you just stand there and wait nobody ever comes to the desk. Pay people a fair wage they will work for you if you can't find people to work shut the doors because a half-assed service does nothing for anybody

Automotive shop is a joke these days.

Called around 1 to see if they’d have time to do an oil change today. They said it would have to be after 3, okay that’s fine with me.

Get to the shop at 3:20ish & there’s a sign up that they’re at lunch 3:10-4:10 🙄

Come back at 4:08, wait for them to open again and there’s already a couple waiting at the door. We all get in once the shop opens and the couple in front of me is wanting an oil change. I get to the counter and tell them I need an oil change and the worker says “I won’t be able to get to it today, it takes 1/2 hour to do one and we aren’t supposed to do oil changes after 4:30.” I tell him that the person on the phone told me to come after 3 but then I got there and they were on lunch and the worker goes “there’s no saved spots for anyone it’s first come first serve.”

Like dude I understand that, it’s the fact whoever was on the phone told me to come after 3 and then y'all were on lunch. Mind you there were no other cars in the shop for repairs besides the couple before me who wanted an oil change, and their automotive shop closes at 6.

Well we picked up our 4 wheeler from getting work done only 2 days ago. We drive it today for the first time and it broke down on the side of the road. We called to report the issue since  we did pay $1500.00.00 for the repairs and we were told they will not look at it. WOW! I would not take anything there to get fixed! They take your money and do not care!

If I could give it negative 5 stars I would. I walked in and there was 5 employees standing around the very front of the store. I walked past and went to the firearm desk to purchase a handgun and rifle for myself. I waited 15 to be helped to even see an employee from that section. Nothing....waited and waited the. Just walked out. I walked by the same 5 employees on the way out and was not greeted or asked to come back and thanks for shopping. Don't waste your time.....farm king/galesburg guns and ammo is literally right down the road. They really missed out. I was preparing to spend around $2000 in their store!

I have been to this store twice, attempting to spend $200 on a kayak. Apparently they don't need my money. I just about had to beg someone to help me. But even the salesperson who came over didn't know much about kayaks. They had no idea what was in stock, how to order one or make any effort to help us buy a kayak. I left and went to Farm King and immediately had 3 people helping us. They even tied my newly purchased kayak to the roof of my car. Don't even bother stopping by. No one will help you and no one will care.

Tom's Gun Shoppe

Tom is very honest and fair!  Very helpful and will take time with you, answer any and all questions even if he knows he won't make a sale that day.

I had a gun shipped to Tom’s Gun Shoppe for pickup. I found Tom to be polite and friendly, with a good sense of humor. I’m sure this must have been a routine transaction for Tom, but he took good care of it and made it an easy and painless experience for me, which I appreciate.

Tom has received a couple guns I purchased on the internet. Tom is a very good guy to work with. Knowledgeable, prompt and polite, you couldn't ask for anything more. He gives you that personal service that the big shops can't.

Simpson Limited

Great company. They list all their guns individually with good photos and very accurate descriptions. They sort of specialize in Swiss W&F Bern 7.5mm, but have lots of others. The old rifle I received is in great condition. You have to call to order, but you can ask them to look at the individual gun you are looking at to make sure the description is accurate. The sales rep I talked to was very helpful and pleasant.  I received the rifle I ordered four days after ordering.  Know that they only ship signature required.

Order a K31 from them. The gradeing on this rifle was perfectly done rifle is as described. Fast shipping. Rifle and bolt were wrapped separately in bubble wrap. Could not ask for a better experience.

Galesburg Guns Gear Ammo

Made a few accessory purchases here but certainly not enough to be a "big spender". The last 2 times I stopped in they were dismissive, the first prefering to chew the fat with a regular rather than assisting myself or the other two people in the shop at the time. Last time in I intended on a moderate purchase, after being ignored for 20 min I went to Farm King and saved roughly $65.00 on an identical purchase. I am a "buy from local small businesses, even if slightly higher prices"  guy, but the poor customer service far outweighed the benefits. Won't be back, won't recommend. Make it "appointment only" if you can't deal with the public, or just close.

The folks at Galesburg Guns have always done right by me. Preston has been very helpful and accommodating. They let me know their opinion and then let me make my own decisions. Never any pressure and I appreciate their advice. I would recommend them to my friends.

Preston and his crew are knowledgeable and competent with what they sell.   Local service with close to internet prices are 100% worth it.    When it comes to guns and gear they have earned my business.
